This is an exceptionally great sounding example of the masterbuilt Segovia Model by Jose Ramirez III. The old growth Brazilian Rosewood used in it is exceptional and has fiery grain in the sides...Jose Ramirez said that the only difference between the 1A and 2A model was the appearance of the Brazilian Rosewood chosen for the sides and back. He used straight grained Brazilian for the 1A and the 2a had Brazilian that exhibited mild to wild grain patterns. This one is more on the "wild" side. it is the exact same design- materials- craftsmanship and sound as a 1a. it is marked with a number 1 on the underside fo the board so was built by the top luthier at ramirez in 1974. This is a powerful concert grade instrument and in the right hands could make a fine show in any concert hall. Has a very piano-like midrange response with deep yet clear and well defined bass . The treble side sings out sweetly and clearly with harp-like waterfalls of echoey harmonic overtones..1973 Ramirez Classical Guitar 2A (Segovia Model). Cedar & Brazilian MUSIC: Preludio de Adios by Alfonso Montes.Action has been set at 5mm for the bass side and 3.5 mm for the treble side. There is a lot of saddle left for any adjustments you might want.This had numerous back hairline cracks that have been closed, glued and are tight. The soundboard is completely crack free.The cedar soundboard has a unique "Wave" in the grain...visually stunning ...The old tuning machines were toast. One was bent and they stuck and creaked even after lubricating so I put modern tuning machines with a bearing on the end ofthe roller. very smooth and tune much easier...very nice looking also .Currently most modern builders are charging $3000 just for old Brazilian Rosewood alone as an additional upgrade cost to the building of a guitar so this is a nice deal. comes with a modern hsc...check out my feedback and it will be obvious that I describe accurately and you can buy with confidence...you wont find a great sounding and playable 1a or 2a at a better price than this...
