In the new world, the brother began a venture of making cymbals with new methods while the family in the old country kept making them in a time tested fashion, each cymbal being very unique enough to be sought out by the top drums such as Steve Gadd, Tony Williams, and Elvin Jones. They would be known as the Old or Istanbul Ks.For your consideration; an Istanbul K Zildjian 16" Cymbal (most likely a crash) in GREAT CONDITION for being nearly 40-60 years old! This bendable thin cymbal has everything you would expect from an Istanbul K with the hammering and lathing typical of the old Ks and the signature underneath the bell. The stamp on this cymbal is either the intermediate stamp or the what is known as the new stamp. This cymbal has no cracks but the edge is not perfectly smooth, with a few nicks here and there as well as a patina and some light surface scratches. The mounting hole is not perfectly round which is to be expected from these cymbals.
