Vintage Conn 41K BBb silver plated 4 valve Sousaphone Grand. Made in Elkhart, IN. Serial #234430. This horn was presented to the Mocha Temple Brass Band by Bandsman "Bill" Ashplant, according to the engraving on the bell. Satin silver with bright silver ferrules. Has a gold wash bell, which is rare and usually only seen on presentation models. It has some small dents and wear from normal use. It has some normal plating wear on the main tuning slide and the 1st valve tuning slide  where the hand touches (see photos.) It is missing a small guard strip on the back of the bell. The diameter of the bell receiver is 7.230". Bore at the main tuning slide measures .770" on the large side and .720" on the small side. Bell is 24 inches in diameter. Body weighs approx. 24 pounds. Comes with 2 main tuning slides. This horn plays great at A-440 with the long tuning slide. Has the original case which is in great condition. A comparable new sousaphone price is over $8000.
