DESCRIPTION For sale is part of a huge collection of instruments I am selling as part of an estate liquidation. Everything is being sold on behalf of beneficiaries to settle the contents of estates. I am an estate liquidator and this is just the tip of the iceberg. Check back often as I will be adding new instruments daily ! This instrument is being sold as is ! Sold "as is" means you the buyer assumes the risk and remote possibility there might be more damage than described or it may require more repairs than you anticipate. Your bid or purchase is an understanding, acknowledgement and acceptance of the "sold as is" terms specified above.For sale is an 18th c. Viola being sold as is. Likely German in origin. Dates c.1780-1820. It has many old repairs including a professional sound post patch on the top and back. Has a typical grafted scroll being over 200 years old. Minor rib separation that should be taken care of prior to long term playing. Length of back measures exactly 14-3/4". Upper bout is 7-1/8". C Bout is 4-3/4". Lower bout is 8-5/8". Viola appears structurally sound with minor open seams. Sound post is set in place but doesn't mean it won't pop loose during shipping. Although it is currently strung up and seems structurally sound. Better safe than sorry and have a Luthier give it a clean bill of health before tuning to full pitch. Includes a case in poor condition but suitable for shipping. No bow. Hands on inspection by appointment at my office in Danbury, CT.
