I received some information on the clarinet from a fellow ebayer..thank you Kevin! This model 68N, "Violin Finish" cocobolo wood clarinet is actually vintage 1952. This model was introduced by Pan American in 1950 and discontinued in 1954. Use of the Conn serial system is incorrect.
Pan American was a relatively independent manufacturing subsidiary of CG Conn Ltd, incorporated in Jul 1919, with its own separate factory opening in Nov 1919. Pan Am had its own models and serial number systems.CG Conn Ltd was brand, manufacturer and holding company like General Motors with GM, Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet, etc subsidiaries, Pan American was one of Conn's.The propeller wood nick name comes from an urban myth. Cocobolo wood is too hard for propellers. There is one small nick on the wood as I hope you can see in the pictures and some very light scratches on the bell.  The corks look good to me. It comes with 2 mouthpieces.  An Ebolin Brilhart Special and a Pan-American.  It is in the case, but doesn't stay put when you stand the case up..so I have put some bubble wrap on top to hold it in place.  The case is in good condition although there are a couple of divots on the back. I don't play and don't profess to know a lot, so please take a look at the pictures and ask questions before bidding.Thank you for looking and happy bidding!Payment is expected within 4 days of auction end.
