This is a 1969 Elkhart (serial number M90470) Conn 8D Double French Horn. The engraving reads "C G Conn LTD. Elkhart IND USA". The 8D is Conn's symphony double horn, and is constructed from solid nickel silver. This instrument plays very well. The valves have good compression, and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, there are a few small dings and pings throughout the horn, as well as some scratching and scarring in the lacquer. These scars in the lacquer show where some dents have been removed from the bell. There are also a few spots of missing lacquer; the lacquer itself appears to have been redone relatively recently. The minor imperfections are visible in the pictures, and none of them affect the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playing condition. This instrument comes with a somewhat worn hardshell case and mouthpiece in good condition.How the horn plays: Full, colorful and raw sound; free-blowing; big sound; very responsive; high and low registers speak very well; timbre/colour of F and Bb sides match wellAll horns are located at Silver & Brass Music Shop710 N.
