Description

This is a wonderful old Dobro with a lovely, rich woody tone.Made in Los Angeles circa early 1929 -this walnut finished wood bodied Dobro is one of the very first Model 55's.There is no serial number stamped on the peghead. However, the fan motif cover plate has a "Patent Pend." stamp.Although a full 1 7/8" wide at the nut, the neck has a very flat & low profile which feels great in the hand. This guitar plays like absolute butter! -it's quite ridiculous -the action is 1/16" on the high E -and it plays all the way up the neck. . .there's just a perfect smidge of relief in the neck -it's not excessive at all!The Beanwood fretboard has this really cool mother-of-pearl celluloid binding. The original cone (which is fine and included in this sale) was swapped out for a Quaterman cone . . .the spider is original.I just got it a brand new case hardshell case which supports the neck quite well and keeps the peghead fully suspended.Professionally packed, and shipped via FedEx -with FULL insurance.
