Based on one of the most coveted and revered classic mics of all time, the Telefunken Elektroakustic C12 delivers a 3 dimensional, notably articulate and present sound, in a way that few other microphones can. The original C12 was developed by AKG in 1953, famed as one of the first mics to feature remote polr response switching capabilities. One could choose between cardioid, omnidirectional and figure-8 (and six intermediate patterns between) from the power supply, without having to touch the microphone itself. This is of course an asset in a studio environment. Along with this added versatility, the C12 is still regarded as one of the finest sounding large diaphragm condensers in the world. The Telefunken Elektroakustic C12 is built to be as close to original as possible. It employs a newly manufactured CK12 capsule, built to the original manufacturers specifications. It is this capsule and its sonic fingerprint that helped develop the signature sound of other famous AKG models. Powered with an NOS GE JAN 6072a tube, just like the original, and an output transformer created by the original manufacturer to be identical, this mic gives the same airy top end, crisp but never harsh presence, smooth mid-range, and tight bottom end that the originals are known for. Where the U47 can capture the soul of a performance, the C12 could be said to excel in depicting the skin and bones of an instrument in stunning detail.
