If you've ever seen a Paul Reed Smith Signature series from the late 80's, you may wonder why this isn't one of them. After all, many of the signatures models shoot for dense flames but few come close to matching this Custom 24. This stunning guitar has one of the best tops I've seen: Ever. The curly maple top has an inconsistent flame and drippy grain patterns that resemble something more of a '59 or '60 Gibson Les Paul Standard top. It's milk-chocolate Brazilian board has the perfect earthy tone to contrast the color of the maple top. The abalone bird inlays have a darkened patina that gives this guitar a true vintage look and vibe. They say the best guitars are usually the most worn-in and played, well in this case, it's totally true. Although the wear is only mild, the various love taps and buckle rash it gives the guitar the character it deserves. This one has seen its fair share of stages and smoky bars. It's also seen a few studios and plenty of comfy couches. Now to talk about the real important stuff, the guitar is all original except the strap buttons to my knowledge. The guitar has a light-medium weight and more of a soft V neck profile making it easily one of the more playable types of electric guitars. As far as the fret board goes, the frets have more of a medium-jumbo feel and plenty of life left in them. It's worth mentioning that this guitar has absolutely no string buzz. The nickel plated brass MIL-COM bridge has wear spots revealing the bare brass and the "West Germany" Schaller tuners function flawlessly.  I personally love the sound of the pickups, it can give any Les Paul a run for the money, but it's true forte is getting the perfect 60's Strat tone.
