This is a 1932 Olds Bb trumpet estimated to have been made in 1932 during the early years if Olds trumpet making.  There was not a model number, but we've referred to it by its bore size, LM or Large Medium.  With serial number 424  it is among the 10 oldest surviving trumpets recorded on the "Olds Register".This horn was acquired from the collection of a major Olds collector who is liquidating his collection.  It appears to be in original condition with no restoration having been done.  The leadpipe shows some areas of repair, but the  horn appears to have all of its original parts.  It has faded gold plating, which is thought to be original to the horn.  Engraving is very sharp for both the serial numbers and the ornate bell engraving.  This was obviously a special horn due to the extra engraving and the Old English engraving on the valve casing.    The bell engraving, gold plating, valve casing engraving and the "Olds" bear engraved on the bell playing a trombone, make this a very special trumpet. The trumpet is playable, but the valves do not have great compression.  A heavier oil helps make this horn playable.  There are matching serial numbers on all the valve components. There is not a case or mouthpiece with this trumpet.
