The lipstick pickup in the neck is the real highlight of this bass, as it outputs classically vintage thump, mild sustain, and genuine woody character partially attributed to its semi-hollow body build, all coalescing into a beautifully-defined tone that has spanned the ages with style and reverence. It’s incredibly light for a bass and with its neck to body weight ratio, falls perfectly into your hands without the excessive neck dive common to hollow and semi-hollow bodies. The neck is perfectly worn and moves easily from the nut to the cutaway. Even for its age, it still plays the full length of the fretboard with very few issues whatsoever. The wear throughout shows its tenure as a well-loved instrument and complements its tonal character with a highly-experienced look that makes it one heck of a complete package. Condition: This bass is in good condition overall. It does have a variety of nicks, dings, dents, chips, scuffs, finish cracks, scratches, and other forms of aging and wear, but it still looks pretty good for an instrument that’s over 50 years old. The frets surprisingly show only mild wear and still have a considerable amount of playing time left in them. The neck is comfortable and plays great from the nut to the cutaway. Body: Single cutaway semi-hollow Masonite body in Black finish. Missing pickguard. Trapezoid bridge with rosewood stick saddle. Replaced control knobs. Missing back plate.
Neck: Medium depth C shape bolt-on neck and rosewood fingerboard with white dot inlays. Kluson-style closed back tuning machines. Missing Silvertone headstock name plate. 1 11/16” metal nut. 29 ¾” scale. Electronics: Single-coil lipstick pickup in the neck. 1 x volume, 1 x tone control. Weight: 6 lbs 1.1 ozPlayability/Sound: Between its light weight and easy neck, this bass plays fantastic head to toe. The lipstick pickup has all the character in the world and has a fair amount of low end thump but is well-defined by its mild sustain and genuine woody character that is partially imparted by its semi-hollow Masonite body. Case: Includes original hardshell case.
