Serial # S 993054 Black Hardtail Fender Stratocaster. Nice U shaped neck typical of this period. Medium weight guitar. Meaty sounding tone, I've always noticed a thicker tone from a Hardtail Strat and I've always thought the big headstock Strats were rockers.. The guitar has its original tuners, nut, frets and bridge. The pick guard and knobs appear to have been changed at some point. The potentiometers are older WD parts. The pickups are Fender black plastic bobbin models with bobbin #016730. These pickups have been documented in guitars from this era, but I cannot say they are original to this instrument. Regardless they sound real nice and balanced and the bridge pickup has a little more punch than your 50's style Strat tone. ( I'm friends with Lindy Fralin so I'm used to hearing good pickups) The frets are original and a bit low. The guitar is playable, but if I were to play it out, I would want a refret. I know most players and buyers of vintage instruments have a go to repair guy and a preferred fret size so I will leave that to you. The guitar is priced accordingly. The guitar has typical player wear of a guitar its age. It's not a collectors piece obviously, but a pretty cool player reliced in the real world. The case is an aftermarket hard shell in black tolex with wear that matches the guitar. I am a guitar repairman of 15 years mostly working on vintage guitars. 100% positive feedback so bid with confidence. Feel free to ask questions and thanks for looking.
