This is a 1973 Gibson SG Standard, serial number 897599, in excellent condition.  (We just acquired this guitar from the family of the previous owner who is deceased.)  The original cherry red finish shows light playing wear, primarily a few nicks or dings and some scuff marks.  There is also some light belt buckle rash on the back.  The neck is straight, the string action is low, and the guitar plays and sounds great.  The original frets show only light to moderate playing wear.  Everything is fully original, from the Gibson tuners to the bridge and pickups, to the original 5-ply small black pickguard, and black barrel knobs.  The only modification is that a previous owner has replaced the neck heel strap button with a strap lock, as seen in the close-up.  The guitar also comes with its original Gibson USA leather strap, as also seen, with the strap lock installed.  This model also features an original Gibson Bigsby-style vibrato tailpiece.  The pickups and writing harness appear totally ‘stock’, with untampered solder joints, as seen in the last close-up picture.  There are no cracks in the body or neck or headstock repairs or structural issues of any kind.  Note the solid joint at the neck-heel in that close-up of the straplock strap button.  This is an issues free vintage S.G. This guitar also features the rear mounted controls, and I believe this was the last year for that feature, as Gibson started top-mounting the controls by 1974.   The finish on the front is slightly faded with age.  The guitar weighs a light 7 pounds, 5.7 ounces, and comes in a modern generic plastic-molded rectangular hardshell case.

We offer a 48-hour approval period with money back guarantee, so feel free to bid with confidence.  Choose 'Buy It Now', and we pay all shipping and insurance costs in the U.S., and half the mailing costs overseas.    Shipping to Australia is more costly than shipping to Europe or Japan, because this instrument can not have the neck unbolted as with a Fender guitar, so this Gibson has to be shipped in a full size guitar box whose dimensions are not accepted by the post office's package service to Australia.   However, shipping through Fed-Ex to Australia can be accomplished for $395. Enjoy bidding.
