Great pair of vintage FACTORY MATCHED, sequential serial number, BLACK LABEL 2002 15" Sound edge Hi-Hats. Top hat weighs in at 1148 grams and 1233 on the bottom hat. This pair still retains a lot of that beautiful original Paiste shine along with vibrant, non faded ink stamps in EVERY location....typically faded or worn off due to age, use and cleaning. Both have the embossed 2002 logo only seen on the vintage Paiste cymbals. I've owned many pairs of these and then sold, while keeping this pair tucked away in the stash being the first pair to pull out and throw on the kit. For whatever reason, this pair sounded better to my ear than the others. The original great looks are an added bonus. These old black label versions have a bottom hat with a higher number and a sharper more pronounced shape on the "scallops" than the new modern version they have been making for few decades. There is a reason everybody wants the old 15" sound edge version. Spend a few more bucks and get that true classic rock and Bonham Zeppelin sound with a desirable vintage pair that only keep rising in value. Or save a few initial $$$ and buy the new version and be lucky to get 50% back on your investment. Expect some wear due to the 35+ years on these hats. Most guys play these beautiful Hi-hats and don't let them sit in cases. There are some spots that could be easily cleaned but I'll leave that to the new owner if that is your thing. It looks like a little tape residue near the bell of the top hat and the top hat as 2 small typical Paiste dings you can feel with your finger on the bell. No chunks missing, bends, cracks or other funny stuff common to old cymbals. Great quality pair that is a cut above most of these that you see....when you can find a pair.
