This is a great example of the famous 1923/24 era Ludwig 'Original All-Metal Separate Tension Drum' shown in the catalogues of the time as 'No5 4"x14" (Dance Model)' This drum is very original having only had its heads and snare-wire changed. The shell is the same heavy brass, original two piece shell featured on the very sort after Black Beauty drums of the 1920s. The nickel plating on both the shell and hardware is in very good condition (with only a few marks as shown in the pictures) especially considering it's 90 years of service! The 1920's was a good period for the quality of Ludwig drums. Ludwig were building drums with real care and attention. This drum is a good example of the quality of drum from that era. A drum to own and play that will only ever gain in value. Currently fitted with a new Remo Fiberskyn ambassador weight batter, ambassador snare head, Puresound snare wire and sounds fantastic!!
