Rhodes Mark V Stage 73Sometimes you can't help but love living in Las Vegas and being surrounded by so many amazing artists.  Artists retire or move on and we all benefit from some of the amazing instruments that they pass on to others.  This Rhodes Mark V Stage 73 is the perfect example. We can't tell you the artist's name but we can let you know that this has been a one-owner instrument which received minimal use and the finest of care by the owner.  After 32 years in service it still sounds and plays unbelievably well.  This Rhodes Mark V was produced in May of 1984.We have uploaded a video showing the updates and playing/sound of this piano so please check the link below.  We have also posted some photos showing only PART of the process.  As the pics show, one of the biggest issues with this Mark V was a dust buildup inside.  But after three decades of use the hammers were only showing minimal wear and there was no rubber buildup on tone strike rods. Before going further, allow us to say that this Rhodes plays beautifully and sounds amazing and is fully guaranteed to do so.  The tone is rich and full and the controls work perfectly without any scratchiness or cutting out.  The control pots didn't even need cleaning. As you can see from the pics (and we'd love to post more but eBay limits us to 12) there were some serious dust bunnies living inside the cabinet.  We pulled it apart, cleaned the dust on all surfaces, cleaned the key pins, reconditioned the slightly grooved rubber hammer heads, modified the wood piano keys to eliminate the key-clacking that these units develop over time due to the hammer arms striking the internal wood keys (see video), adjusted the sound pickups and tone bars, and generally cleaned and conditioned the internal and external surfaces. Here's a video so you can see the mods and hear the Rhodes play: Besides the key mods to eliminate the clacking, a few other things have been changed or modified on this Rhodes.  The owner upgraded the cheeky tone and volume control knobs in favor of much more solid and functional units that are easier and more precise to use while playing, particularly in the dark during performances (see photos).  The owner replaced the metal foot pedal rod for a custom oak rod because it was much more solid and didn't collapse without warning in the middle of a performance.  The original rod was misplaced but they're available on eBay for $35 from an eBay member who manufactures an upgraded replacement.  The inner oak dowel comes with extra material if you need to lengthen it to fit your stand, it is NOT glued in and the rod performs flawlessly.  Cosmetically, the side mounting screws on the case were changed from chrome to black (inside the outer aluminum strips). On the flip side, there are a couple of things that don't affect performance but need mentioning.  The hard shell protective cover is held on with six twist-clamp locks.  One of them on the bottom corner came off years ago.  It affects nothing, the case still closes tightly and is very secure, but it's gone.  Also, the piano's top cover (harp cover) is held on by five aluminum vice-like sections that clamp it in place when thescrews are tightened.  One of the side clamps (mounted inside the cover, out of sight) is also missing.  The owner has since misplaced it.  The side clamps come off when unscrewed but the back ones do not.  It affects virtually nothing; the harp lid still clamps on firmly and stays in place as it should.  Replacement clamps should be available online if you feel you need to add one. Also, it's hard to show in the photos but the harp cover does have some minimal scratching from having a Juno resting atop, and the protective outer travel case has scratching on the top side. When you receive this Rhodes piano you'll be able to put it to work.  You may want to (or have to) pull the harp cover off to adjust or tune the tone bars slightly to fit your taste and style of play.  All you need is a Phillips screwdriver to do any of this; it's super simple and you'll have fun sampling the different tones that you can get by adjusting the tone bars. These Rhodes Mark V's are extremely rare and Rhodes proclaimed them to be the best of the line that they ever produced, including being lighter at under 100 lbs. including the case.  This unit is a fine example of their success.  The Rhodes has been used in hits across the musical spectrum for decades by groups from the Doors to the likes of Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, and Chick Corea (Mark V).  The theme from the TV show 'Taxi' was played on a Rhodes.Excellent investment that you'll treasure for decades to come!!!__________________ShippingUSA shipping will be $150 via FedEx Ground.  We can ship this via air freight worldwide for $800.  Canada will be much less. We have been shipping larger and heavier items worldwide for the past 17 years.  If you live within a few hundred miles of Las Vegas we'll deliver it personally rather than use one of the shipping companies (same cost).Best OffersThere's no way to know today's market value on these very rare, finest of the Rhodes pianos, Mark V Stage 73's.  Ten years ago they sold on eBay for $4-5k.Please keep in mind that eBay/PayPal will be taking a combined 13-15% of the final sale price (eBay gets 10% of the sale price + shipping and PayPal gets 3% domestic and 4% non-USA of all funds sent to us).  Local pickup paid in cash is the best route for everyone involved.  Ready for a Vegas vacation? If you're in Las Vegas you're welcome to come by and play this piano for yourself.  Send us a note to set up an appointment.________________Please email with any other questions that you may have.
