DESCRIPTION For sale is part of a huge collection of instruments I am selling as part of an estate liquidation. Everything is being sold on behalf of beneficiaries to settle the contents of estates. I am an estate liquidator and this is just the tip of the iceberg. Check back often as I will be adding new instruments daily ! *This antique instrument is sold as is ! Sold "as is" means you the buyer assumes the risk and a very slim possibility there might be more damage than described or it may require more repairs than you anticipate. Your bid or purchase is an understanding, acknowledgement and acceptance of the "sold as is" terms specified above.For sale is a very old viola of European origin being *sold as is ! This viola dates c.1780-1810. Many stable top repairs. There is a top and back sound post repair with visible patch on inside back (see pic) The scroll is grafted with a cheek graft for one of the tuners. Beautiful carved scroll ! Length of back is 14-3/4". Upper bout measures 7-1/8". "C" bout measures 4-3/4". Lower bout measures 8-5/8". Viola appears structurally sound. No visible rib separation but a spot of glue may be required on the lower rib that only a trained eye would detect. Includes an old case only suitable for shipping. No bow. As with all old string instruments. Always have a Luthier inspect before long term playing. Call 203-270-6000 anytime for any condition questions that I may have over looked.
