Thank you for visiting this listing; Up for auction is an item from the estate of NFL Hall of Fame inductee Art Donovan. This is a vintage ukulele made by the C.F. Martin Musical Instrument Co. was purchased by Art (The Bulldog) Donovan of the NFL Championship team The Baltimore Colts for his country club. There is a plethora of information regarding Art Donovan's football career & post NFL TV celebrity. In 1955 Art Donovan purchased “The Mansion at Valley Country Club” in the Baltimore suburb of Towson, PA. Art's wife Dorothy (Dottie) became the club's managing executive (CEO). Today the Mansion at The Valley Country Club's managing executive is Art & Dottie's daughter Debbie Donovan Smith. The country club ukulele is a C.F. Martin Style 2M, circa 1947 – 1957. This instrument is in excellent condition for any age let alone one being 60 years old. The country club's 2-sided business card with the venue's information is located in the pocket of the original premium 3-ply wooden Keratol (pre-Tolex) covered ukulele case. The case itself is in near pristine condition. All in all a wonderful Time Capsule of a C.F. Martin & Co vintage instrument. Now; not only does this ukulele have that sought-after vintage Martin tone, it has incredible volume & projection. The loudest I've heard. This is one of those special “cream-of-the-crop” instruments in its own right, regardless of its illustrious history residing at the NFL Hall of Fame inductee's country club mansion.
