This is an VERY NICE PLAYING, Vintage 1977 Gibson SG that is a hard one to find IN FACTORY ORIGINAL BLACK! From my investigation it appears that Gibson produced a special run during December of 1977 of SG Standards in black with a few other special features.
This rare model has all the appointments of the more common Standard with the exception of dot markers and lack of neck binding. Unsure how many of these are out there but I would guess less than 300 considering Gibson produced around 2,000-3,000 SG's annually on average.
The head stock sports the Standard Pearl Inlaid Crown And Gibson Logo. Pickups are the original Tar Backs.
These are popping up less and less everyday, and would be a great original collector/player to have in your bunch. This guitar was professionally gone over and there are no signs of breaks, repairs, damage or refinishing. The finish has a good shine, but does have some flaws here and there such as minor dents, scratches, etc as shown in pictures that are typical for its age. The fingerboard and frets are in great condition, and only show some minor wear in the first 3-4 frets. This Rare SG plays and sounds great with low action.
