Up for sale, a 2002 Gibson Custom Shop '61 Les Paul SG Standard in excellentlcondition and in perfect working order. With a TV Yellow gloss nitro lacquer finish, nickel hardware, and long frame Lyre Vibrola, this SG has a feel and tone that truly harkens back to the golden age of Gibson! Weighing in at only 7lbs 12oz, this "Les Paul" faithfully reproduces the guitar that would become the famed SG following Les Paul's decision to no longer endorse the guitar destined to be one of Gibson's most iconic models. The pickups deliver just the right amount of punch and power, with a glassy clarity and great harmonic content.  Acoustically resonant with great bark and a wooly midrange quality, this SG exemplifies everything we love about Gibson's modern Custom Shop offerings! Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 11-50 strings, this Les Paul SG plays exceedingly well with low action and solid intonation. The Les Paul SG Standard reissue stays true to the specs of this iconic instrument. Its distinct features and legendary tone are meticulously remade with all the precision and accuracy expected from Gibson Custom, including the solid mahogany body with twin cutaways, pointed horns, beveled edges and nickel-plated hardware, including the Maestro vibrato with Lyre-engraved tailpiece plate. Other standard appointments include its cellulose trapezoid fingerboard inlays, single-ply binding along the fingerboard and a slim-neck profile. In addition to these details, the Les Paul SG reissue also benefits a one-piece rosewood fingerboard, Kluson Deluxe machine heads, accurate fingerboard binding color, '57 Classic humbuckers created in the image of the original PAFs, and period-correct Aniline dye that brings out the grain in the mahogany beneath the TV Yellow finish. The neck has a quintessential early 60's profile that's slender and easy to fret while still feeling solid and substantial. The 1 11/16" nut width keeps things from feeling too slim as well, and the profile has just enough depth and roundness in the shoulders to keep players happy. The frets are in fantastic shape, showing only faint wear beneath the G and B strings on frets 1-5, and virtually no wear further up the neck. The frets retain their full, original height and play cleanly in all registers with no buzzing or dead spots and a responsive truss rod. The headstock features the correct 17 degree angle and holly veneer, with inlayed pearloid Gibson logo, and Kluson-style Gibson Deluxe tuning machines with aged green single ring tulip buttons. On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with individual Volume and Tone knobs for each pickup coupled to a three-way pickup selector toggle. All of the hardware is stock, and the nickel shows moderate patina on the pickup covers, Tune-o-Matic bridge and Lyre Vibrola. The Vibrola spring sits a bit lower to the body than Gibson's current reissues, and has a softer, smoother feel for surfy warbles and modest dives. The nitro lacquer gloss TV Yellow finish is particularly rare and in great shape, with light targeted buckle rash central to the back (no wear through the finish) and some faint scratches in the pick path. There are a few small nicks down to the mahogany on the treble side carved edge of the body south of the controls and on the edge of the body horn, and a few small nicks are present on the top edges of the headstock as well. This guitar has been well kept and lightly played for the past 14 years. The original "Gibson Custom" hardshell case is included.
