Description

I may be sorry for listing this, but it has gone mostly un-played for the last 40 years.    I bought this from the original owner in 1973/74, It was my first guitar!   Soon  I got an acoustic and got a little more realistic about my abilities to learn guitar!.   The guy I got it from said he bought it in 69.  I always thought it was a 69.   Checking what I could on the net, I see it is probably 70-71.   I have not taken anything apart on it see what the pickup coils say or what they are.   It has never been apart as along as I've had it and I am sure it was never messed with before I got it.  All the screw heads are clean and undamaged.   The original owner did put a set of Schaller keys on it, which a local guy took off and put a set of new Gibsons on about 2 years ago.    The frets are all good as you can see in the picture of the nut and the 12th fret, they are all strong and not worn much at all.   You can see the volute, the "made in usa" the serial number, whatever other items that can help date this guitar.   It has a deep scratch in the finish right above the bridge pickup which was there when I got it.   In one pic you see a small amount of crazing in the lacquer.  It is about 3/8 inch wide and a couple inches long.   That was my fault, I used to have a fancy strap with  a plastic on the back side.   I would fold the strap and lay it on the guitar when I closed the case.   After several years of that the plastic must have gotten to the lacquer.   It isn't bad and not a big area, but it is there as shown in the pictures.January will be two years that the new tuners were put on.   The local guy that did it was so excited that he asked if he could play the guitar at a NY's show his group did.  That is really the last time it had new strings or was played.   It was probably 5-10 years before that the last time I had it out of the case.   The case is the original from Gibson as it came in new.  It still has the original leather strap and the original owners book.   I wish the original owner had kept his sales receipt in here too, but he didn't.   This is an exceptionally nice, original classic Les Paul, not a 57 or a 69, but it is still  a fine playing and sounding instrument.   I will only ship by UPS Store.   I will split the shipping cost.   At the auctions conclusion I will get a shipping quote to your address and  the buyer can PP his half of shipping costs if needed.    I will include $30 shipping in the auction listing and we will go from there.    I have more pictures and am glad to take and send any pictures that may be required.    This guitar is  available for inspection with arrangements made.    Best offers can be submitted, and it is for sale locally.
