1987 Fender American Standard Stratocaster serial number E408259.This guitar is in near mint condition. Absolutely completely stock with original everything. No Changes, no adjustments, no fret dress. This guitar was purchased in 1987 and has seen limited service. There is one small dent in the back near the spring cover. Otherwise, it is a beautiful, sunburst finish. 30 years old and frozen in time. The case is in excellent condition. 1987 is a very desirable year for this guitar as it is the first year of the American Standard Series. The American Standard differed from earlier models and vintage re-issues with the use of the two point bridge with solid saddles, the bi-flex truss rod and 9 1/2" radius fret boards, TBX tone controls and the “swimming pool” route. TBX stands for “treble bass expander” which is a one-knob circuit, tbough that single knob rotates two stacked pots. The control has a center detente. Set here, it’s like a regular tone control, wide-open. Turn it counter-clockwise and highs vanish, when you rotate clockwise, the absence of lows makes glassy highs erupt. This “strat” weighs in at 8.2lbs, utilizes the standard 25.5” scale length, has a nut width of 1 5/8”, the profile at the 1st fret is .820 and at the 12th fret is .880.
