Up for sale, a 1965 Sears Silvertone Model 1457 "Amp-in-Case" electric guitar and original tube amplifier built into the case. This is clean and 100% original 1457 guitar and amplifier set which was manufactured for Sears by Danelectro in the USA, with the trim around the guitar retaining a clean white color, the top and back featuring a rich red metalflake sparkle finish. This set is complete, right down to the original on/off wedge footswitch for the tremolo effect on the amp. Even a couple of the stock "Silvertone" branded tubes are intact too, and the amp fires up just as well as the day it left the factory, with a low noise floor and great class A tube tone.
A significant upgrade over the more common 1448 single pickup Amp-in-Case model, the 1457 features a two pickup design, with concentric Volume and Tone knobs for each pickup, and a fantastic range of glassy single coil tones. The amp is also notably more complex than the 1448, with a built in bias-based tremolo circuit, and a 8" Jensen C8R speaker that handles the breakup and tone of the amplifier very well. The guitar has been professionally setup with low action, and the dual Lipstick pickups have all the jangle, sparkle, and twang you'd expect from this little vintage wonder. The neck has a slim C profile with virtually no wear on the edges of the profile where the neck meets the Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The original frets are in great shape, retaining their full original height and showing only the faintest wear in on frets 1-3 beneath the plain strings, and no notable wear up the neck. With a scale length measuring 24 3/4" and a nut width of 1 11/16", this is a full scale, professional level vintage Danelectro. The stock "Skate Key" tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold pitch surprisingly well. The "Silvertone" silver silkscreen script on the face of the headstock is mostly intact as well. All of the original hardware is intact on the body, including the white concentric knobs and quaint Brazilian rosewood saddle on the metal bridge. Under the pickguard, the electronics are stock, with CTS pots that date to the 36th week of 1964 and original stiff copper shielding tape. In terms of cosmetic wear, this guitar is particularly clean and well cared for, with some light nicks around the edges of the headstock, a couple scuffs on the white vinyl sides, and a nick or two on the instrument as a whole. There is no serious or structural wear of any kind on the instrument, and the red sparkle sunburst finish is vibrant and unfaded. The amplifier case is in similar clean condition to the guitar, with original wicker grillcloth, stock speaker, and clean faceplate. The dark gray sparkle case retains the original hinges and handle too. The Jensen speaker has a clean 1965 date code on the black frame.

Don't miss out on this Silvertone 1457 guitar and amplifier set, crafted by Danelectro and in excellent, 100% original condition!
