The Gibson Futura was an electric guitar which was the precursor of the model introduced as the Explorer. These prototypes, christened "Futura" many years later, resembled the eventual Explorer design, but had a differently-proportioned body, as well as a 'split' or 'forked' headstock which survived into the first few production Explorers but was quickly replaced. Gibson obtained U.S. Design Patent number 181,865 for the Futura body shape.This Guitar is a rare find. From what I can find out they dont come up for sale very often. I learned most about them from a GIS and reading the gear page dot net. New un-played and stored since purchase. All original with original case and all documentation.In the even of a postal strike, buyer will have option to wait or cancel purchase.Missing one string
