Then read the history of ths particular guitar From Strat Talk – USA In the summer of 1997 Fender USA introduced a new lineup of "hotrodded" American Standard Stratocasters. This new trio of guitars included the "Lone Star", "Big Apple" and "Roadhouse". Basically these were Deluxe upgrades on the Standard Strat model (including Pearloid or tortoise pickguards, Tolex hard-shell cases, exclusive colors, and the choice of either a rosewood fretboard or fretted maple neck) together with ‘hot-rodded’ pickups.:The "Lonestar", The "Big Apple", and …The "Roadhouse" which had 3 overwound "Texas Special" pickups. These “hot-rodded” models were produced 1997-2000 only, replaced by the American Strat Texas models (upgraded and hot–rodded versions of the new American ‘Series’ standard strats). From Reverb Inc USA Instant Texas Blues tone! The Fender Roadhouse Strat is just the guitar for SRV fans wanting American quality. The American Roadhouses were discontinued years ago and have been popular among musicians. Great USA made quality and specs. The body is alder for good tone. The 25.5 inch scale maple neck features a 9.5 inch radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets. These came from the factory with hot Texas Special pickups for killer blues tone. A 2 point trem offers smooth whammy action while sealed tuners keep it rock solid, set off by a Pearloid pickguard. A great guitar for the blues man!The Roadhouse Strat is a great package. Big frets make for easy bends. The pickups deliver a big tone. Fender no longer makes an American Roadhouse. A real pity as these were great and very versatile instruments. You can buy a new American Standard for $1199 in the superstores but you won't get the powerful Texas Pickups. ~ ~ ~ You can find lots and lots of Mexican Deluxe Roadhouse vids on the net (ignore them – different guitar) but these are the only 1997 USA Roadhouse vids I could locate: - Condition: Near Mint – the body is just about perfect – no dings, dents scratches – I’m not going to SAY it’s ‘As New’ because its 20 years old! But the condition is exceptional. It’s had very little play. NO FRETWARE– played at home only and infrequently by a collector (me). Some very slight signs of wear on the bottom edge of the fingerboard around fret 10 to fret 12 – but you have to hold it up to the light and search for it! It’s spent most of its life in its case. For the past two decades, I’ve got it out to play it for an hour every once every few weeks to once every few months – then polish it and put it back. I’m not a guitarist I’m a bass player who collects 6 string electrics. The case has one or two light scratches on the top - not a lot and not deep - can't pick up on photos. It's not been out of the house since new but has been in and out form under the stairs plenty of times over the past 20 years. The Hardware on the case is still all shiny and nice. All locks and clips work obviously.There is a little Case Candy that I forgot to photograph.... . a fender booklet and a card. There was a sticker but I put that on the back of the case as you can see. (idiot) . History and Details I’m a bass player and my six strings are my toys and my hobby at home. I keep my collection of 6 string guitars perfect and I only buy guitars in mint condition. I use some of them for recording at home or just get them out and love them every now and again (I know – sad old bastard!). Most of the time they are in their cases and not used. I clean them frequently, send them to the best Luthiers in town for the best set ups (L.A. Guitars in London). (See how often folk as “item exactly as described in my feedback!) I’m selling a few guitars from my collection now. I’ve recently retired and if I want to continue to buy more guitars I have to sell some. I’ve AGONISED about letting this one go. It’s always been one of my favourites but I’ve found something expensive I must have . . . .so I’m selling three guitars from my collection. Lovely chunky neck – feels fantastic under your hands as soon as you pick it up, a real players neck. The action is low all the way along the neck with no buzzes or rates – see picture of 12 fret. The maple fingerboard wonderful – like playing on butter. The Alder Body gives a lovely warm tone and with the Custom Texas overwound pickups it just sounds more Fendery than most Strat’ I have played. Shoreline Gold Fenders are as rare as hen’s teeth. USA Roadhouses are also extremely rare – they only made them for 6 years – so the combination of the two could best be described as Plinian! I have no idea what this is worth.
