Description

Up for auction a matched pair of vintage Siemens v77 tube preamps in a Neue Heimat rack. Serienr. 1361 and 1419. For sale due to studio downsizing. Very good condition. 80dB gain. 48v. Racked and served by Neue Heimat a few years ago. The v77 is quite rare, but technically built almost like a v72, with some differences. Some say the v77 produce sound like a V72 but with the gain of the v76. Not quite true, but close. I have used all these preamps side by side for many years and the v77 has its own flavour of the "V-family sound". In my world, the v72 is a bit limited because of the max 34dB output, though it works excellent specially on some vocals - and DI bass guitar. The v77 delivers a sound in the same league, but with gain up to 80dB, it becomes a much more versatile preamp. It shines on just about everything from vocals, drums, room, all kinds of acoustic instruments and settings. But there is more!  The v77 is one of the ever BEST preamps for ribbon mics! And with a good pair of ribbons mics, you get an unbeatable combo for drum OH sound or stereo recording! Does not have to be very expensive mics either (Royer, Beyer160 or even less expensive ribbon mics)And more! Some of the best "in your face rock vocal" takes I have done, is with the v77. By pushing inexpensive mics like sm7 or even a sm58, the v77 delivers a punchy midrange "API`ish" tone with tube colour on top. And like the v72, the v77 gives a distinct tube sound on DI bass guitar!!Included in the auction is 2 x v77 in a Neue Heimat rack. 230V.Bid in confidence, see my feedbacks.Sorry no return.Shipping to EU/UK approx 80 euros. It is quite heavy. International shipping, please ask for quote. Please take contact if any questions ref. making an offer, technical aspects, shipping or other. www.cakehouse.noBjorn
