Description
Brand: Eko Dexterity: Right-Handed
Model: 290 String Configuration: 12 String
Body Type: Semi-Hollow Exact Year: 1966
Series: Original Country/Region of Manufacture: Italy

First of all, this model was only made in late 1966 and 1967, and quickly discontinued (in Eko's manufacturing program it was for all practical purposes substituted with the Vox Ultrasonic Twelve series, based on the same bodies and necks). The series was originally called Eko 290/12, as shown on the leaflet issued in late 1966 by the U.S. distributor. This is the earliest version ever to appear on paperwork (in pics):The guitar is fully original and faultless. Even the ashtray on bridge is there. It has exactly the configuration the Eko 290-XII (just before the series was rechristened Barracuda) had in late 1966, at the time the Beatles were just starting recording Sgt Pepper's LHCB.Only the tailpiece is not originally from Italy.Actually at that time final assembly of Eko guitars marketed in the U.S. took place in Milwaukee, and it seems that LoDuca often preferred to mount U.S. made tailpieces (with a diamond-shaped pattern) on Eko 12-stringed guitars. True, value assessment depends of offer/demand situation, but this particular model is so awfully rare that virtually anyone into 'rare guitars' is aware of its existence, and consequently no one is looking for it....at least, a smile if you are not.
