Up for sale today is a 1915 Gibson A-4 mandolin USA in a rugged black finish. This is one of the higher end variants from the A series mandolins, and it is in well-loved, but original condition. The OHSC is included, but it has a handle broken on one end. This lovely example was owned by a kindly gentleman from the East Coast of Canada who had been collecting antique instruments for many years.Modifications: This instrument has had no discernible modifications that we can see. It was well maintained over the years. It includes the original pickguard and case as well, though the case does have a broken handle from one end. Condition: Overall, this mandolin is in what I would call very good to excellent condition. Despite the signs of play-wear, for being 101 years old, this mandolin is well-preserved. The original tuners and tailpiece are there and accounted for, and other than the paint-wear, the instrument is relatively clean. There is no structural damage, the paint is relatively intact, and the overall aesthetic is quite nice. The frets do have some moderate play-wear. The original serial number reads as # 20573, dating this instrument to ca. 1915. Shipping: This instrument ships from Nova Scotia, Canada. It is also available for local pickup.
