This is potentially the first Berlin SSH to have been made. This may have been a custom order or prototype - it possibly pre-dates the official introduction of the SSH model. What's particularly unusual is that the humbucker is mounted directly to the body rather than via a pickup surround. I'm aware of only one more Berlin with a direct-mounted humbucker and it's another SSH with a serial number close to this one which would seem to favour the prototype idea. It's a very nice guitar to play, versatile with a good tone and sustain. The serial number is 7003, the wood grain makes the zeros look like eights.Specs as follows:Mahogany body / maple cap
Maple neck / rosewood fingerboard
22 frets
Wilkinson VS100 non-convertible trem
Kent Armstrong single-coils
Seymour Duncan JB humbucker
Sperzel locking tuners
Natural binding
Rosewood headstock veneerThe neck is on the fuller side of the Berlin scale. The action is medium-low and it's very comfortable to play. The trem is smooth and holds it holds its tuning well with moderate use. It's in very good condition. It has a couple of dings and some small marks and scratches  as shown in the photographs. There is some finish clouding on the back of the neck and the side of the headstock. My understanding is that this would be due to a flaw in the finishing process so it will probably have had it from new. The guitar comes with an early style rectangular Eggle case.
