1979 Fender Stratocaster - Hardtail. Made at Leo Fender's original Fullerton factory, California, USA. Original white finish has aged to a beautiful buttery blonde. A few slight scuffs commensurate with age, one bigger scuff, (see pic 9), probably from being dropped. The maple neck is in superb condition. Very skinny for a 70's! It retains its high gloss, no fret wear. There are two small holes at the end of the headstock, (picture 6), not sure of their purpose. The pickups (hot X-1 bridge), pots, switch, Pickguard & knobs are all from another '79 Strat. When I originally bought the guitar, it had Dimarzio's and modern pots. I bought a period correct loaded pickguard from Fender Factors. The strap buttons don't look original - it has a newer Fender Switchcraft Jack and plate. The shoddy bridge has been replaced with a vintage Fender one with stamped saddles. Original Fender hard shell case, with key! It plays light a dream, low action, no buzzing on the skinny neck. The hot X-1 bridge pickup is a massive improvement on the earlier 1970's p'ups - bright and fiery! It looks absolutely gorgeous! Best colour and neck combination...with natural age. And it only weighs 3.5 kg, very light for a late 70's ash Strat. Price is firm....unless you're collecting with cash. Thanks for looking.
