You can think of it as a small mixer, a DI to go straight into a PA, a line out to go to a monitor or amp, a headphone amp, or to add two additional channels to your amp.
The Dual Mix Audio Preamp from AER is a high quality two-channel preamp for instrument, line, or microphone signals. The unit offers two inputs, each for one microphone or instrument and line-level signal with switchable 24V phantom power. The Dual Mix is especially suited as channel extension in connection with amplifiers, as instrument/microphone stage preamp, and as a headphone rehearsal amplifier. This audio preamp features four multi-effect preset, two reverbs, one echo and one chorus. The built-in effects on the Dual-Mix are great. There are two reverbs, a delay, and a chorus – the same as in the AER Compact 60. The Level knob lets you decide how much of the effect you want to mix in with your signal. That works extremely. The reverbs are great and you can choose from short or long hall. The delay is 320ms and sounded really good. The chorus is quite subtle but gives just the right amount of ‘zing’ to the sound. You can also use the Pan knob to choose to have the effect on one channel or the other, or both, and to mix in the amount per channel, very cool. For a small acoustic duo, for example, they can plug one guitar and mic into the Compact 60 and another instrument and mic into the Dual-Mix plugged into the return and have a self-contained PA in one little amp. The Dual-Mix is a great & compact but versatile unit that can perform many different functions. It can even take the place of an amp in many situations and allow you to go directly into the PA with exceptional sound. Another really great feature is the Aux In connecting an MP3 player and it has its own level control to mix with your instrument/microphone.
