The Elite Stratocaster was produced in 1983 in small numbers to satisfy a number of necessary improvements over the already exceptional and well proven Stratocaster of old. It was offered with a choice of either the improved 'Freeflyte' tremolo, which was not a huge success, or the Floyd Rose system which utilised string locking to ensure the strings stayed perfectly in tune no matter how hard the trem is used. This late 1983 guitar is factory fitted with the Floyd Rose system and has proven to be exceptionally good at holding tuning. This combined with the TBX, MDX system, TBX (active high range) and MDX( active mid range), and the noise cancelling new pole less pickups incorporating a dummy coil between lead and middle pickup enabled this Strat to maintain the already famous and desired unique Fender single coil tone, and provide enhanced high range and mid range sound adjustments for much more tonal variation over the norm. The Elite stratocaster was only produced over a very short period of time and was the high end Fender Stratocaster of its day aimed at the professional guitarist who needed the extra features offered.  It still provides an exceptional professional guitar that produces 'that sound' in bucket loads, with the added improvements that do lift it to another dimension altogether. Please look under Fender Elite Stratocasters on eBay. You will see lots of the new version but in amongst them are some vintage ones like mine that are priced from £1600 upwards. You will also see the modern version is the top end Stratocasters. I prefer buyer to collect as I do not wish to risk the guitar being damaged in transit.
