G&L Asat Special. This is one of the USA built guitars, not the cheaper (but still excellent) Tribute series, and the quality really shows in comparison to the Korean/Indonnesian models.Finish is a rich two-tone sunburst with an ivory cream scratchplate (photos make it look whiter than it is). The neck has quite a dark amber tint to the varnish. The edge binding, rather than a strip of paint or plastic, is a paler wood - slightly darker than the neck - and contrast beuatifully against the darker brown of the sunburst. Very classy IMHO.
The guitar sounds excellent with its 2 large rectangular G&L Magnetic Field Design high output single coil pickups - still has plenty of Telecaster 'twang' but with far more 'oomph' (technical term) than standard Tele pups. Think mid-way between a Tele single-coil and a P90 and you won't be far out. Holds tune superbly courtesy of its G&L locking tuners.Collection in person is welcome - I live 2.5 miles from Junction 39 of the M1, near Wakefield.
