Description
This is an original early 1960’s Fender Stratocaster tortoise pickguard. 4 ply white/black/white/tortoise. It’s in OK shape. The entire pickguard is shrunken, which is normal for this kind of material. I took a picture of this pickguard on a reissue strat body to show how the pickguard screw holes are a little off. Normal Stratocaster pickup covers will not fit right now. You’ll have to gently enlarge the holes for the pickups with a rounded file. There is a small crack near the neck pickup mounting screw, which is typical of all these pickguards. The tone control hole is enlarged. The truss rod nut area is chewed up a little bit. The pickguard is only slightly warped and will lie flat when screwed down. There is a shadow of a grounding plate for the electronics. This type of grounding plate is more like what was on a 50’s Stratocaster, though the material is from the early 60’s. I’m not entirely sure if that’s normal since these are so rare. Anyway, it’s a rare part for your Stratocaster restoration project. Buyer pays $5.00 shipping. International shipping will be $15-25. –Fred.
