, the only model ever made with a headstock, also known as "The Sceptre". The guitar is the only model that enables you to take full advantage of all the features of the TransTrem, the transposing tremolo, without the need for calibrated strings.
DEMO VIDEO: https://youtu.be/-mOXDA-PO-gFOLDER WITH HD PICTURES: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dlso4x6r27d84ga/AAAQ8BOP98ky0PIDiPxxNirqa?dl=0(copy and paste the two links above in your browser bar)The headstock is fitted with the technological STEINBERGER GEARLESS TUNERS, with a 40:1 ratio, that gives you extremely accurate control over your tuning. The nut is the revolutionary STEINBERGER KNut, knife edge nut for extreme tuning stability even with the most intense use of the bar without the need for a clamping nut.The neck does not have a trussrod as it is made out of the Steinberger composite material that makes it extremely resistant. The frets have been perfectly dressed, leveled and polished to a mirror finish and still have plenty of life - if you combine this with the extremely accurate setup I did (I have many years of experience in dealing with all sort of Steinberger gear) you will have a buzz-free extremely low action. The fretboard has also been perfectly cleaned and it is in very good shape, almost no wear. The only minor thing is that the neck is missing the 15th fret side dot marker, but any luthier could replace that for a few bucks. Neck is in perfect shape except for a couple of scratches, one slightly visible across the 5-8th frets and one more visible around the 14-15th frets, but absolutely nothing major, no effect on playability. Also some scratches on the headstock.Electronic wise, the guitar features EMG PICKUPS 89-SA-89, with the HAZ LABS active EQ board: with the tone knob you have the middle position which is the standard configuration, turn it down and you will have a bass boost, turn it from 5 to 10 and you will have a treble boost. To complete the setup there is the mini-toggle switch that changes the two EMG 89 humbuckers to single-coil mode. The pickup show some wear and the logo is not very visible; the volume pot has been replaced by a professional tech with a new one (see pictures for more details). The body is in gorgeous conditions and it features a fantastic natural finish with just a couple of small dings, very hard to capture on camera but please make sure you use all the pictures I provide for further reference. I think the guitar body has been refinished because inside the trem cavity and under the pickups and in the electronic box there is a metallic blue color that can be seen. This is almost impossibile to tell when the guitar is fully setup and assembled, and also the actual finish is such good that I also suppose it might have been a factory mod maybe after a particular request by a customer, or maybe they just used the body for another guitar requested in a different coloration, as the GS production line has always been scarce. The neck pocket show a 2cm hairline crack, a very common issue on almost any Steinberger guitar, but it does not have any negative effect. The guitar serial is N13973, made in 1991 at the Newburgh plant, so it belongs to the most sought after models, the ones made before the Gibson's buyout of the factory. The TransTrem has just been completely disassembled, cleaned and lubed (the disassembled picture proves this); bearings and pins have been replaced and after the meticulous setup it now transposes perfectly in all five positions and returns to zero with no issues whatsoever. Original trem arm included. The trem is in perfect working conditions, only minor signs of age, mainly on the top plate and on the saddles but they do not affect playability or functionality. The guitar will be shipped in its original factory-logo black Steinberger gigbag and it will be very accurately packed.
