Up for sale, a 1994 Fender 40th Anniversary Stratocaster in excellent condition, complete with the original manual, polish cloth, and molded hardshell case. Essentially a Stratocaster Deluxe with a commemorative badge, this guitar delivers the quality, consistency, and tonal versatility of Fender's early iterations of their revived USA-made Strat platform. With a trio of alnico magnet single coil pickups and a responsive modern two-point vibrato unit, the tone is chiming and clear, with quack and cut in positions 2 and 4 on the blade switch, and a neck pickup that has plenty of girth and warmth. Paired with the stock roller nut, the vibrato action is very smooth, and even deep dives jump back to the original pitch with ease. This alder-bodied Strat weighs in at 8lbs 2oz and has a clear, resonant acoustic tone. We've professionally setup this guitar here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, solid intonation, and comfortable action. The maple neck has a slender C shaped profile and 22 fret slab rosewood fretboard. The profile has a semi-gloss finish that is silky smooth on the palm and let's you move up the neck unencumbered for quick lead lines and position shifts. The stock medium jumbo frets are intact, with plenty of height and well rounded crowns, and the guitar plays cleanly up the neck with no buzzes or dead spots. In terms of fretwear, there is very little to report, and the frets show only the faintest wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The roller nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the 40th Anniversary badge is intact, along with the Fender-branded Schaller chrome tuning machines which turn very smoothly and hold pitch as they should. It's worth noting that Fender used a very soft metal for the truss rod nuts on these guitars, and as such, this nut has been stripped for use with a conventional allen wrench. To preserve the original walnut plug and truss rod nut, we ordered a "gripper" truss rod wrench via StewMac, specifically designed to work with worn truss rod nuts. With this tool, we were able to get the rod to respond, although it is fairly tight and adjustment room is limited. The setup, however, is excellent and all aspects of the instrument have been adjusted properly for optimal action and playability. The gripper truss rod tool is included with the guitar. The electronics all work as they should, with a traditional Strat layout including a Master Volume knob, dual Tone controls, and five-way blade pickup selector switch. All of the original hardware is present too, and the plastic parts have all aged to a light shade of cream in the past two decades. The "40 years and still rockin" neck plate is also intact and shows only light wear to the chrome plating near the top two neck screw holes. Cosmetically, this guitar is very clean, with a sleek gloss black finish that shows only a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat, mostly relegated to the back of the guitar. This 40th Anniversary Strat is 100% original, clean, and professionally setup, complete with the original paperwork and polish cloth!
The molded Fender hardshell case is included.
