Fender Custom Shop Jason Smith Master Built 1957 Heavy Relic Stratocaster in Shell Pink This guitar was built earlier this year by Jason Smith who is one of Fender’s most sought after builders. There is a considerable waiting list for a Jason Smith guitar and the relic work is the most authentic that I have seen from any of the Master Builders. This guitar is absolutely sensational. The Shell Pink finish is perfect for a 50s Strat and the relic work is amazing, reflecting almost 60 years of use by a player that took reasonable care of it! The neck is a very nice soft v shape that will be familiar to anyone who is a fan of the Eric Clapton Strats. What also makes this guitar different is a set of the Fender Ancho Poblano pickups. There is lots of information about these pickups online but they are essentially a ‘hot’ sounding set that make this guitar really sing and roar – think vintage noiseless pickups but even more ‘vintage’ if that makes sense. The pickup set can be seen demonstrated here on a different guitar The same pickups were simply added to this Master Built guitar which means that the tone is even better. As the guitar is new it has just had a set up by a professional tech and the tremolo was also blocked at the same time but this is easily reset if that’s what you want. I am only selling to fund an extravagant vintage purchase that came along just after I got this guitar.
