Not just your flimsy, plastic Fostex, this! Probably THE best 4 track tape deck ever made. Not just because of it's size, the fact that it's built like a tank, the killer (some say API-like) EQ (only 2-band, but both fully sweepable) or even the fancy faux leather arm rest. Just coz it sounds AWESOME. With the DBX engaged (which, itself, gives a lovely warm compression sheen to everything) there is next to no detectable hiss that you'd normally expect from a tape machine. It has an in-built SMPTE track (striped above track1). This thing was designed like nobody's business. These are RARE as it is but you will be VERY hard pushed to find one in cosmetic condition such as this, if you could find one. The photos don't really do it justice. It is also FULLY working - the door opens with no problems and all tape and switch functions etc work with no issues, the sliders and pots are crackle free. It has been internally cleaned (see the before/after pictures above). It has not had any new rubber parts (belts, pinch rollers, idlers tyres) fitted to my knowledge, however, as it hasn't needed them.It comes with print outs of both the User Manual and the EXTREMELY rare Service Manual with page after page of schematics (which cost me £50 alone to get hold of).See the below video - a short demonstration of the record/playback of this very unit, recorded just a few nights ago...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6M1yQOf-8Y&t=5sIt's a tough, tough decision for me to sell this and I have a strong feeling that I'm going to regret it a great deal. However, I've decided to throw my lot in with my Akai MG1214 and completely refurb that and I haven't got the space for both, alas.Keep an eye out - in the next few days I will probably be listing this machine's perfect partner, the GX-912 Master Mixdown cassette deck (in, of course, the grey colour). I may
consider a deal for both if you buy this before the GX is listed.Postage may seem a little high but it's really quite heavy and it includes full insurance, which is the killer.
