Guild X-79 SkyhawkMade between 1981 and 1985 these amazing Guild guitars were very futuristicshaped guitars. Made in the USA, they had a mahogany body and mahogany set neckwith a twenty-four fret ebony fingerboard and their big advantage over many otherunusually shaped guitars was that they were comfortable to play and only weighedjust under six and a half pounds with a twenty-four and three-quarter inch scale. The bridge is a tune-o-matic and the tailpiece, a stopbar all in chromeThere are two Guild XR-7 open humbuckers each with a volume control and one overalltone control, plus a three-way pickup selector switch. The great looking headstockcontains the ''X-79'' logo on the truss rod cover and the Guild three on a side tuners, plus the ''Guild'' logo and serial number. The knobs are correct type replacements but I do have two of the originals whichare included; and the case is a modern one but is fitted to take the X-79 shape. This lovelyguitar has been well used over the last thirty-five years and shows some knocks - mainlyto the points, and a few scratches but its a great guitar and a good player.
