I have owned this guitar from new following an impulse buy when I went to see Ian Thornley do a demo show in Guitar Guitar in Birmingham. I paid over £1100 for it.
Since then this model has gone up in price and is almost £1300 new!

I've never really tried a PRS before as I didn't like previous styling, but the offset mahogany body on the Vela is simply stunning. I love playing this thing, it sounds incredible and never comes out of tune. The neck single coil is stunning. There might come a time in the future when I buy another one of these in black or white, but for now it is surplus to requirements. Guitar is in excellent condition apart from 3 marks on the body. I have never gigged this guitar. The reason I am selling is that I mainly use Suhr guitars in my band, plus the sunburst colouring simply would not go with the metal image of my band. I am in no rush to sell this. I have been watching these on ebay and gumtree over the past 6 months so I know exactly how rare a sale this is.

Loaded with a PRS-designed Starla humbucker in the bridge and the newly designed PRS Type-D single coil in the neck, the Vela has a bright, punchy tone that sounds great plugged into your pedalboard or straight into an amp. A coil-tap on the tone control allows the Starla pickup to split into singlecoils and explore a whole new range of tones. The newly designed plate-style bridge holds two brass saddles specifically designed for great sustain and perfect intonation so both rhythm and lead tones sound great no matter where you are on the fretboard.
