This is one beautiful guitar. It looks great and plays even better.I have given her a fresh, pro set-up that includes: New GHS Boomer 11-50 gauge strings, truss rod adjustment, intonation set, string height adjustment, fret polish, fret board clean and moisturize, hardware tighten and body polish. The action is low. Really, really low with no dead frets or buzzing. This is an amazing playing guitar with a great feeling neck. The action is about 2/32" to 3/32" at the 12th fret. Even with the slightly thicker (11-50 gauge) strings, the guitar nearly plays itself. I use thicker strings on this one to get a fuller tone - especially acoustically. You can easily go much heavier with the strings (even to 12 or 13 gauge) and still have a guitar that plays effortlessly. This guitar has a lot of high end features- locking tuners, top notch electronics. I especially love this as an alternative to an acoustic guitar. Being a jazz player, I like to play complex chords high up the neck. I have an impossible time finding acoustic guitars that allow for set ups that make playing these types of chords possible. Not so with this beauty! She plays like a dream all the way up the neck! There are two output jacks - one for the humbuckers and one for the acoustic piezo pickups. You can split your acoustic and electric signals to two different amplification sources and mix them right on the guitar. The acoustic sounds are great. The electric sounds are fantastic. This is just an absolutely versatile guitar for the jazz, acoustic, or even rock/blues player. The build quality is phenomenal-on par with Gibson, PRS, etc.Comes with pictured hard shell case.
OVERVIEW
Voiced for jazz and blues with electro-acoustic flexibility. The Montreal is the latest in a series of dual-voiced electric guitars from Godin that marry the sounds of traditional magnetic pickups with the saddle transducers in the bridge. The 2-chamber body is carved from a solid block of mahogany and capped with a carved solid mahogany top adorned with f-holes and cream binding. The 22-fret mahogany neck is shaped for exceptional comfort by Godin's ergocut technique, which leaves the back of the neck a comfortable modern C shape, while the front, fretboard edge, and frets are angled slightly in. The recessed pickups and bridge plus sculpted bolt-on neck joint make the Montreal Electric Guitar very comfortable. The 2 Godin humbuckers produce an extensive range of sounds thanks to a special 5-way switch that provides 5 distinct tones. Add in the L.R. Baggs transducers loaded in the bridge saddles and the palette of sounds becomes infinite. 2 separate outputs are set up so that the electric and acoustic voices can be blended in the guitar using a single patch cord or at the amp/mixer using both outputs. The Montreal guitar hardware is black and gold. Montreal is a great city, and it becomes that much cooler during its annual Jazz Festival. The city's love affair with jazz inspired the Montreal's creation. Jazz and blues players will love the way the Godin Montreal Electric Guitar sounds and feels.
