Straight from our brass (and silver) instrument repair shop, our USED horns are brought back to life...All major dents are removed, joints re-soldered (if needed), patches repaired (if necessary) and the slides reworked. Our horns may be buffed, but all are hand polished to a good shine and are in good playable condition. We are proud to offer this refurbished instrument for sale. We have tried to describe it as it is, and are happy to answer any questions asked. #36/2016
Up for sale is a 1954 Olds Bass Professional Trombone with F Attachment. (serial number 180xxx). There are matching numbers throughout. The slide bore is .547/.562, with 9" bell flare. This large bore instrument plays well and is made of yellow brass and has a brass valve, with some brass-nickel plate on the valve cover. It has a raw brass finish. There are small dings and scratches and has pitting throughout, with more pitting at the grips. This horn has had some major repairs in it's lifetime; it is not perfect, but all parts are original. The slide has been honed and there is a slight whisper, but the action is good with good compression...however, there is a dent in the slide tube (see picture) that was left alone because it was so close to the lead pipe and it does not affect the slide action. The stockings show a couple of dime-sized wear-through spots. This instrument is not lacquered; therefore, this instrument may have to be polished periodically (we recommend using Weiman METAL Polish). This trombone comes with a mouthpiece and gig bag for transport. This horn is a beautiful playing instrument with great tone, response and intonation. The F Key looks unconventional and takes some getting used to, but works well and sounds very good! The horn is capable of broad range; making for a very versatile instrument. Thanks for looking and check out our other items!
