A very unique Goldtop Les Paul.1981 was the year Gibson re-issued the now very sought after PAF pickups designed by the famous Tim Shaw at Gibson. This Goldtop features a very special & rare Vibrato Tailpiece which works perfectly and stays in position on the top. (The original Gibson Stop Tailpiece is included in the case compartment and can be easily reinstalled if so desired). This unique Vibrato, of unknown origin, which was found at a guitar show convention, is absolutely fantastic, with a nice tight feel & stays in tune. (I have quite a few guitars in my personal collection with various vibrato tailpieces and this is one of the best, and extremely exciting with that extra long vibrato arm (aka "whammy bar"). The arm is very strong and rigid. The metal base of the vibrato can be permanently attached to the top if so desired, but it stays in position perfectly just from it's own strong hinge design. This Vibrato Tailpiece is a real gem of a rare find. And it looks fantastic in person; these photos do not do it justice. There is no neck wear or fingerboard &/or fret wear. The entire guitar is in excellent condition and the neck profile and playing action is perfect up and down the neck. The handle on the case has been excellently repaired with an ingenius home repair using strong inter-braided smooth wire, very comfortable to the feel of the hand. & a nice conversation piece. Looks unusual in photo but definitely very good when seen in person.2 decorative Goldtop LP mini-jewel pins have been attached to the case (see photos).Enjoy, (to whoever likes a good vibrato tailpiece, ... & who doesn't?Ozzy
