Here you go Keith Richards fans! This is a super cool 1976 Fender Telecaster Custom. It plays like a dream and sounds fantastic. This guitar is mostly original except for the following additions, I consider them upgrades. This guitar doesn't need a thing and it's ready to be played. I've owned this guitar for about five years. When I bought it the original frets had been filed down to almost nothing and there was very little sustain. So I had the guitar re-fretted with medium Fender style frets. The job was done by Chicago luthier Geoff Benge. Look him up he does excellent work. I never liked the thick polyurethane that Fender coated their maple necks with so I decided to have Geoff remove it from the neck. What a difference! The guitar plays like new with great action, sustain and an incredible smooth, fast feel. The neck humbucker is original and the myth is true. There is no pick up that sounds quite like it. Smooth but with guts. The original bridge pick up had been swapped with a crappy sounding DiMarzio so I replaced it with a Lollar Special T which is a superb sounding pickup. It has that classic bright Telecaster tone. I also added a Callaham vintage bridge with enhanced compensated stainless steel saddles which is so much better then the original bridge. The pickup selector cap was missing so I replaced with a new Fender brand cap. Other than that everything else is original. The upgrades really brought this guitar back to life and I've only used it in a climate controlled recording studio environment, never had any issues with it. The guitar has a little bit or wear and a rough spot in the polyurethane on the back, nothing major. The guitar weighs 8 lb 13 oz. Serial number is 715099. See photos for more detail. I’ve played and owned a lot of vintage guitars through the years and this is one of the finest instruments I’ve come across. It would be a terrific addition to any collection.
