Up for bids today is a brand new 2016 Gibson Midtown Standard model. I got this guitar as a back-up to my tobacco Midtown, but it's been so reliable that I never needed to use this one as a backup. :-) Barely played, in mint condition. The guitar has been professionally set up by my long time luthier so the action is down on the neck and the intonation is spot-on. The strings are wrapped over-top of the tailpiece, just because that's just how I like them for a little less string tension. This has the Grover tuners, not the weird E-tune contraption that some of these came with. The gloss black finish is so shiny it was impossible to get a picture of it that didn't have some sort of overhead lighting reflected in it, so anything you see in the pics that looks like a finish blemish, be assured that it's just the light reflected on the finish...the guitar looks like a piece of black glass. :-) The cool feature of these Midtown models is that they're sort of the best of all worlds: The bite of a Les Paul, the "woodiness" of semi-hollow body, the slim, fast neck of an SG and the classic look of a 335. You can't go wrong! :-) The body and neck binding are a classic touch, and the mother of pearl dots (not cheap plastic) give it a classy look. This guitar never left the house...it was simply a back-up to my main Midtown. If it were any other time of year, I'd probably just hold on to it, but I could use a little spare cash for Xmas gifts, so we'll see how she does in an auction.
