For sale is a truly vibrant aesthetic masterpiece of an electric guitar made by Italian manufacturer Eko. This guitar is the model 500 with 2 pickups in a "TO" (gold sparkle top, mother of pearl back) finish. Eko was an Italian manufacturer of guitars and manufactured largely for export, sending guitars to nearly every country in the world during the 60's. This guitar was manufactured sometime between 1964-65, as it has the model 101 surface mount vibrato unit which was introduced in 1964 and the 24 3/4" scale length which was also a change to the model 500 that year. Tonally this guitar is very lively and jangly, it's pickups are clean and pronounced and when coupled with it's two piece composite chambered body, the notes jump out of this guitar and leaves it with a truly unique tone. Due to the tonal nature of this instrument, when coupled with overdrive or distortion it really sings and can get quite dirty while maintaining a pronounced note structure across chords. This is a very playable instrument, with a neck shape similar to contemporary Fenders (somewhere in the realm of a slim C shape), weighing in at only 7 pounds, and the action at 5/64"-7/64" at the 12th fret from treble to bass side.  Cosmetically this guitar is in very good condition, with signs of play such as pick scratching on the guard, some buckle rash and swirling along the back, there is some fret wear in the first playing position and there is some oxidization on the hardware. Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case, and also an Eko branded guitar polish rag. This is one of the most beautiful and funky guitars we've ever laid eyes on, and is a fantastic player to boot. Don't miss out on this rare bird as they grow harder and harder to find every day and their value is steadily increasing.
