1998 Gibson Custom Shop Historic R7 1957 Goldtop reissue model in HEAVY relic condition with original historic custom shop case This honest play wear looks like a Tom Murphy relic job! Make an offer! I don't believe they came with them in '98. Buy with confidence from a reputable seller with a 30-day money back return policy. Functionally, zero issues. Guitar plays and sounds fantastic. Guitar weighs 8lbs 11oz, so its a nice weight. Big, thick chunky neck. LOTS of cool looking cosmetic wear. The original owner of this guitar played it LITERALLY every day. All the wear is from honest playing. There is no artificial "aging" going on with this guitar. It is a beautiful thing. Lots of lacquer checking, works spots in places because it was "worn" by playing. The guitar looks like its 60 years old! Lacquer is blister/popping on the treble side of the back of the neck from wear, the binding has cracks at nearly every single fret marker, the hardware looks worn, the plastic is worn and cracked, and it even SMELLS like the original owner (cocoa butter lotion)! Original '57 Classic Gibson humbuckers in the neck and bridge position. No electronics have been altered. No parts have been changed. This guitar plays great with low action and no fret buzz or fret outs. The neck is straight with no twist, bend, back bow or any other neck issue. No repairs. No cracks, no structural issues whatsoever.I have relisted this guitar after selling it and allowing the buyer to try it out. The previous buyer decided the neck was not quite thick enough for his taste. Almost, but not quite. The neck depth is .91. I understand that this is a lot of money to pay for a guitar that is "almost, but not quite" what you are looking for, which is why I have a 30-day money back guarantee. With the wear, there are some things I should mention. • The output jack plastic plate is badly cracked. It works fine, but, I'm not sure for how much longer. If you are gentle, it should last a while. If you are doing quick guitar changes on stage, you may want to go ahead and swap that out. Thats a real cheap thing to fix. It also looks like those are not the original screws for the jack plate. They look like Fender pick guard screws. • There is a fair amount of fret wear all over the fret board. Not just in one area. Because the wear is pretty even, it doesn't affect intonation or playability at all. The guitar plays great, and has nice, low action. • There is a small lacquer pop near the side of the nut that I have pictured where a spot of finish about the size of a tic tac (a little smaller than that actually) has popped off. • There is a good sized "impression" on the bass side of the neck that looks kind of like a wide "V" shaped scuff (pictured). Its about an inch and half long. • There is a pencil eraser sized chip in the lower side bout of the guitar above the jack plate (pictured). International buyers are welcome! Thanks for looking.
