Somehow over the last few years I have developed an unfortunate and unsustainable habit of buying nice old 1970s Japanese lawsuit guitars. I have woken up to myself. It’s silly to have all these guitars, you can’t play them all at once. I’m going to keep just one strat, one 335 and one acoustic. So I have 4 guitars to sell. Check my other listings! This one is a Greco SE500 from 1977. If you are looking at this you no doubt already know what it is. I think the story goes that Greco guitars were so good that Fender bought the factory and started producing the now very sought after JV Squires. Models went from SE350 to SE700, so the 500 is a midrange model. The guitar is in great original condition for its age. Comes with original case and with the price tag and bridge cover! Some paint chips but not many. Seems all original to me (although I guess it’s impossible to know). 3 way pick up selector. Frets are good, I think have plenty of life left and it plays nicely with no buzzing and carry on. Truss rod is good and electronics all good. Set up ready to gig, intonation is good and action about 2.5mm at fret 12 which is how I like it. Bridge set so that it will trem down but not up, because I like it to have contact with the body and resonate more. Basically it’s just a nice good quality vintage guitar that is ready to go and doesn’t come with Fender price. It is a 70s copy and plays like one. The measurements are below, but a description might be more useful: classic “C” shaped neck, so not a fast slim modern “C” feel. But if you wanted that you wouldn’t be looking at a Greco right? I printed the radius gauge from  Not super accurate but kind of fun. Looks to me that neck radius is about 9.5" or even 10" give or take given the accuracy of a piece of paper with the strings still on! But gives you some idea. It has the slight 70s chunk that fits in the palm of your hand, but at 3.75kg it is not a heavy guitar. It’s about 200gm heavier than the other strat I have listed, and I put that down to hardware. See in the photos the bridge and tuners are more solid. I have lost the tremolo arm. The thread accepts a 10-32 thread like an American strat. I will look round the shed and update the listing if I find it. Nut 43mm
12 Fret 52mm
Action 2.5mm at fret 12
Weight 3.75
Ebay forces you to put in a postage cost but I intend to charge what it costs. I have just put in a postage cost for guidance based on my experience of what it costs to ship a guitar. Packed it will come to 9.5kg and the box will be 125cm x 45cm x 19cm so you can look at shipping quotes from 2602. It will be too long for Aussie Post. I’m happy to drop off at a courier of your choice if that saves cash, or do any other running round that might help, or email pack&send for a quote. Thanks!
