Throughout its history, Fender Japan produced a small number of highest-end versions of its reissues of classic Fender guitars, at various times called Ex-Trads or Custom Editions among other names.  That tradition ended in the mid-1990's but was revived a decade later with guitars like this ST62-105DMC Strat.  Like its predecessors (and unlike the very fine more usual Fender Japan Strats made for the Japanese domestic market), this highest-end '62 Stratocaster reissue from 2006-2008 (CIJ serial number S001686) has a lacquer finish on body and neck, a fretboard of dark rosewood, a two-piece center-joined alder body, US-made CTS pots, entirely cloth-bound wiring and a steel tremelo block for enhanced sustain.  And instead of the standard Japanese-market reissues' use of Texas Special pickups, this higher-end version came from the factory with US-made DiMarzio pickups which hit a tonal sweet spot that some players think the Texas Specials lack. By the way, if the barely-visible "DiMarzio Collection" marking on the pickup covers bothers you, a set of unmarked replacement covers from any number of suppliers will set you back a couple of dollars.    The condition of this 8 lb 5 oz (3.8 kg) Strat is very near mint.  There are slight cracks at three of the tremelo cover's screwholes and the topcoat shows a few very superficial scratches and small areas with the sort of reactive dimpling that lacquer finishes are commonly susceptible to since unlike poly the lacquer never completely hardens.  The oval-profile neck with its 1-11/16ths inch nut width and 7.25 inch (184 mm) fretboard radius is good and straight and the frets show no visible wear.  It comes with a very plush and protective Fender gig bag.ABOUT GUITARGAI
In 2001 when guitargai became one of the first dealers in the Western Hemisphere to offer guitars made in Japan exclusively for the Japanese home market, not everyone recognized how truly great these instruments were. But over the years nearly two thousand have been sold on eBay and from the guitargai.com web site. Now, of course, Japanese domestic-market guitars are known the world over as among the best guitars made in any era by anyone anywhere on the planet.PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING
This is an auction.  The guitar will be sold to the highest bidder at its conclusion.  There is no Buy-It-Now price because the auction will not be stopped before its scheduled end time.  Please don't ask about a Buy-It-Now option, make an offer or ask about the availability of other guitars that may be on your wish list. There are no returns on auction guitars but as you can see from the eBay feedback that hasn't been a problem.  In an auction when competing against other willing buyers you're bidding to buy the guitar, not for right of first refusal to buy it.  Some of the guys selling guitars from Japan make a big deal about being willing to accept returns, knowing full well that in the real world nobody's likely to accept a roundtrip shipping loss of several hundred dollars to take them up on it.All photos are of the actual guitar being offered.  While considerable effort is made to accurately show the guitar's color, the limitations of color photography and computer or device color display can sometimes create slight discrepancies.Buyers should know what they're getting.  Our descriptions comprise both words and photos and we urge you to carefully consider both before bidding.  While guitars with technical problems are never knowingly shipped out, these are by and large used guitars and their cosmetic condition sometimes reflects that use.  Not every little blip can or will be photographed, only those we consider to be significant. No one set-up is right for everybody but all guitars leave here intonated properly and set up to our preferences, which may or may not be your own.  But all the adjustables are perfectly functional so the set up can be tweaked after delivery however the guitar's new owner prefers.      We want to provide our buyers the best possible eBay experience.  In the unlikely event that a buyer feels unable to give us full 5-star feedback, please give us an opportunity to respond to your concerns BEFORE leaving negative feedback or opening a dispute. We'll do our best to resolve any problems.        Thanks and GOOD LUCK!
