Max is best known for his replicas. This guitar started a quarter inch thicker than a normal 1959 burst would be. It is made from hundred-year-old Honduran mahogany and was intended to be a recording instrument rather than a replica. When Max reacquired the guitar, he shaved the extra quarter inch off to save weight. He refinished it and nitro all natural. The top is carved as a 59 as are all the control cavities pick up cavities etc. it is loaded with Lindy Fraillan pick upsand all top quality parts. The board is made of wenge.
